Fun and Games for Children in Need at Ultra!

Staff at the Manchester Head Office of Ultra Electronics Airport Systems are taking part in a number of events in aid of Children in Need 2009.  We aim to raise up to £4000 in a variety of ways.

FANCY DRESS COMPETITION

Staff turned up in a whole range of Fancy Dress on Friday 20th November.  As well as the winners listed below we had The Spice Girls, St Ultra’s (loosely based on St Trinian’s), a Sheikh, a Chinese Empress, Evel Kneivel, Hagar the Horrible, two Indiana Jones, a Chef, a Sexy Nun and lots more. 

 

Entrants were judged in two categories:

Home Made -     

Winner  - the Grim Reaper, Ed Fuidge

2nd Prize - Rambo, Mark Abson

3rd Prize - Scouser, Barbara Kirkman

Shop Bought -    

Winner – Goldilocks, Tony Harries

2nd Prize – Leprechaun, Chris Ainsworth

3rd Prize – Turkey, Ian Pagan

 

Prizes have been generously donated by Affiniti, ATP, BT, Crowne Plaza Hotels, NEC, and Office Depot and include an Ipod Nano, Ipod shuffle, Krupps coffee machine, digital photo frame, tickets on the Eurostar and a luxury meal for 2 at a local hotel restaurant.

DONATIONS:  Ultra’s regular “dress down Friday” collections are being donated to the Children in Need cause for 4 Fridays, and to this is added cash donations from generous suppliers:  Access, IER and Progress, and a contribution from Shush Marketing Ltd. who held a jewellery and watches sale in the office boardroom and donated 10% of the proceeds.

SALES OF FOOD:  Various skilled staff contributed their time, effort and ingredients to make delicious snacks:  pakoras, samosas, sausage rolls and a range of buns and cakes, which were sold in aid of the charity.

BLIND BID AUCTION:  8 (yes, 8!) 40” LCD screens donated by NEC will be auctioned off on 8 consecutive days in a series of “sealed bid” auctions.  Staff will submit their bid before midnight each day, and the highest bid will win the display the next day.

RAFFLES:  A series of raffles are being held for various high value prizes donated by suppliers and staff.  Dell, HP, M2 Digital, O2, Pioneer, Riverbed and Star have donated wonderful prizes including an I Pod Touch, a notebook PC, two Sony Eriksson Xperia 1A, a case of wine, a Blackberry, a Nokia handset, a colour laser printer and a deskjet printer along with an assortment of bottles, candles and other raffle goods.
