Airport Management Centre for South African Airports
Airports Company South Africa (Pty) Ltd (ACSA) selects Ultra Electronics to supply its new Airport Management Centre IT Platform
Ultra Electronics Airport Systems (Ultra) is pleased to announce the award of the contract to supply the Airport Management Centre (AMC) IT Platform for Oliver R Tambo International Airport - Johannesburg, Cape Town International Airport and Durban International Airport by Airports Company South Africa (Pty) Ltd (ACSA).
The Airport Management Centre allows users and stakeholders at each airport to have a real-time representation of key airport operational aspects, facilitating the implementation of active collaborative decision making (CDM) throughout the airport community. A common vision will be enabled for punctuality, quality and continuous Improvement, delivering end-to-end process enhancement and greatly improved passenger service quality in time for the FIFA Soccer World Cup in 2010.
The AMC project delivers not only the technical requirements of the platform, but also the design and implementation of the required business processes across the entire airport community.
The AMC will be delivered by a team led by Ultra Electronics Airport Systems, leading airport IT systems specialists. The technical solution is based on the Zeus Operational Management Suite delivered by NeuroPie Solutions AG which is deployed at Unique Zurich Airport and also delivered by Ultra at London Heathrow and London Stansted Airports as BAA’s new Staff Information System. Ultra’s team is completed by the human factors, change management and business process consulting expertise of Human Engineering Ltd.

ACSA’s determination to improve customer experience within its airports has resulted in this highly prestigious award and demonstrates Ultra’s ability to deliver innovative turnkey solutions to support the growing desire for CDM solutions within airport communities. The project will start in February 2008, and delivery will be complete at Oliver R Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, by early 2009. Delivery at Cape Town International and Durban International will also be achieved in 2009.
