Overview

UltraDB acts as the information hub and source of shared, accurate data on the airport. It provides data storage and distribution in a logical, controlled and structured manner. Information held in UltraDB includes all flight and operational data, such as seasonal and active flight schedules, and industry standard reference data.

Non-flight-related information is also accessed centrally in UltraDB, for the efficient and cost-effective management of the airport terminal building, its security systems and support equipment. Historical flight and transaction logging data is stored on-line for a configurable period, typically 1-3 years, for reporting, billing and statistical analysis, and is then backed up automatically to offline data storage.

UltraDB enables airport systems integration. It can be used to control information distribution between application systems, allowing users to make correctly informed decisions based on the data. When used with an integration broker such as UltraIB, it ensures the integrity of airport information is maintained.

Secure open access and distribution of data to authorised users has always been a major feature of UltraDB. It has continued to evolve to meet new industry standards, from ODBC and SQL to loosely coupled messaging interfaces offered in the J2EE environment with XML, JMS and HTTP.

The task of interfacing new external applications with UltraDB remains simple and cost efficient.

UltraDB provides complete control of access to stored data. This control is exercised through a combination of network security, filtered data distribution and password controlled access to user functionality and operational data at a number of levels.

Ultra's unique pool of airport-focused consultants and engineers, each with a proven track record in delivering airport operational database solutions ensures your system integration requirements are met with the lowest possible risk to your operation.

Hong Kong International Airport handled 44.5 million passengers and 3.6 million tonnes of cargo in 2006. The dynamic nature of the airport environment results in new interfaces being implemented and old ones being removed over time - currently UltraDB in Hong Kong has approximately 20 interfaces to systems throughout the airport environment.

"Ultra and their UltraDB solution have been instrumental in enabling HKIA to meet our airport's systems integration requirements"
